1. The People V. O.J Simpson, American Crime Story

Ryan murphy treatment to sexism, racism, tablod exploration and one of the most notorious criminal trial of the 20th century could have been a mess but the first season of O.J was a near perfect masterpiece. This series is a brilliant combination of low brow and highbrow subjects paired with stellar performance from the likes of Courtney B. Vance, Sterling K. Brown and Sarah Paulson and over the top appearances by Connie Britton, Connie Britton and Nathan Lane.

O.J is also perfectly timed proving that in the midst of ongoing national conversation about sexism and race, issues that were encountered decades ago still loom heavily in the culture today.

2. Atlanta FX

This dazzling tragic-comedy was a breakthrough for creator and writer Donald Glover and a reminder that America has always been a diverse and interesting country than the TV lets on.

Brave, playful and accomplished, Atlanta is among the few series that treat poverty as its main subject and driving force instead of using it to set up a story about gangs, crime and drugs.

3. Game of thrones

Game of thrones has continued to reign five seasons down the line. It is still one of the most watched TV series.

This eight episode criminal drama TV series has everything you can expect from a great TV show. It is written by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price and directed by James marsh and Zaillian.

Though its story may sound familiar anyone the listen to first season, there is plenty of suspense and mystery.

6. Insecure

Insecure is a comedy TV series created by Larry Wilmore and Issa Dee. The plot of this series comes close to perfection and will leave anyone eager to tell all friends about it.

Issa Rae’s writing is funny and crisp yet original and her performance as Issa is also impeccable. The secondary characters are also enjoyable not to forget its amazing hip hop track featuring renowned female rappers.
